The annual awards were held at the EICC by the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce. Ours was shortlisted against four other high-quality entries selected from more than 10, and – despite strong competition – CompanyNet came out on top.
The judges praised our innovative approach to recruiting and training young people in a sector that is core to the future of Edinburgh and Scotland.
CompanyNet takes on several Modern Apprentices each year, with the aim of broadening access to careers in the tech sector, while boosting the pool of talent available to Scottish IT businesses.
An exciting 2017 saw us become an accredited SQA training centre. Staff, including former apprentices, have trained to become assessors, bringing our training programme completely in-house.
This unique approach has not only led to CompanyNet becoming self-sufficient for training, but has seen the set-up of a dedicated training subsidiary, The Knowledge Business. The Knowledge Business offers assessor training for individuals, and consultancy services to help other businesses achieve self-sufficiency in their own training programmes.
Later this year we will be interviewing prospective apprentices for our 2018 intake. If you’re interested in a career in IT, you can find out more here.
