- What we do
- Who we work with
- Who we are
Scotland Women in Technology (SWiT) is a community which attracts, inspires, empowers and retains women by developing a network to help grow their contribution to the IT industry. It is made up of individuals from a number of large organisations and agencies throughout Scotland, all working towards this common goal. CompanyNet were delighted to be a part of this exciting evening of celebration.
The awards ceremony gave us an incredible insight into the contribution and outstanding work being done to ensure that the gender imbalance in the Scottish IT industry is not only acknowledged, but also challenged at the grass-roots level. Awards on the evening recognised categories including Primary and Secondary Teachers of the year, who are encouraging girls into the technology subjects and STEM careers at the earliest opportunity, and the “One to Watch” and “Rising Star” awards, which acknowledge young women starting their careers in Technology on the right foot.
Many industry-leading organisations were also represented in the awards nominations, such as RBS, JP Morgan, Clydesdale Bank and Amazon, showing that there is a growing understanding in business that encouraging and nurturing female talent is essential to future growth.
With our ongoing commitment to working with Skills Development Scotland to encourage and support young people through our apprenticeship programme, and our hopes to assist other SMEs to do the same, we hope to continue our involvement in encouraging women to claim their place in the IT sector.
